Children's Entertainment - Who Needs Entertaining?

 by: Rachel Branston

What price to entertain our children? How much entertainment do our children need?
At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, how were children entertained a 100 years ago when there were no television or computer games?
Very simply I would imagine.

Imagination - The key to all adventures.
Babies and small children will play with simple things like empty boxes, clothes pegs, pots and pans.
To them they are all sorts of things because they use their imagination.
They don't expect to be entertained with expensive toys or computer systems they just need to touch and feel things to have fun.
Simple songs with actions will be remembered well beyond childhood years and hopefully be passed on to the next generation of children needing to be entertained.
Dressing up, making things out of cardboard and paper, the possibilities are endless all that is needed is a little imagination.

Birthday parties used to be simple affairs, nowadays our children expect to have an entertainer or bouncy castle at their parties.
Whatever happened to pass the parcel or blind mans buff?
The more entertainment we provide for our children the more they seem to need.

Today's society seems to dictate the trend, maybe we should all try and steer our children gently back to simple entertainment.
Switch the 'telly' off, dig out the board games, if you can survive the moans and groans of your children then you might just be able to persuade them that entertainment needn't be just by means of televisions and computers.
You can have fun together.
You can talk and communicate and entertain each other.
Go out to the theatre, see a pantomime, all good fun ways of entertaining the whole family.
Memories are precious, if you have a great family night out and have fun together, you will keep the memory for a long time.

Small children used to be given colouring books and pencils, now the trend is to plonk them down in front of the television and let it entertain them.
Who knows what information they are subjected to.
Children will learn to be inactive, not a healthy pastime.

How often have you heard the words "I am bored".
Does this mean the child needs to be entertained?
Certainly not, if you were to suggest that you can find something for them to do you will find that your child miraculously finds something to entertain them.

Something as simple as playing with a ball can be healthy, amusing, fun, and the more people taking part
in the game the merrier.
Which one of us hasn't been involved in a football game or game of cricket or rounders, which has grown into an incredible amount of people on both sides.
Who cared who won?
Playing and entertaining you was all that mattered and it was healthy!

Interaction with others will stand our children in good stead by teaching them social skills and encouraging them to lead a healthy active lifestyle.
So encourage your children to go on out there, go with them, entertain, be entertained and have fun !!!

Relax in a Hammock

Relax in a Hammock

 by: Dawn Rowlett

Hammocks have been a standard for backyards for decades. Although they traditionally come from South American and Caribbean cultures, they have easily become a part of modern life. They are the ultimate way to just kick back and relax, and even doze off for a while. Just like most things, the hammock has been developed for maximum comfort and practicality.

Hammocks are a staple in homes in the Mexican state of the Yucatan. They have been made there for centuries and are hand woven by women and children alike. They are made in villages all around Mexico, though they are also made and sold worldwide. Hammocks have also been widely used on ships by sailors. Since they rock with the movement of the ship, they make sleeping on a ship much safer than a bed. Whether or not these cultural backgrounds have helped the popularity of the hammock is not know, but the practicality of the hammock sells it for itself.

Many factors affect how you approach your work at home business including distractions, proper office equipment and the overall environment of your business office.

Other than the fact that you may hate your job, your office is probably well organized, open and contains all the necessary equipment to perform your job effectively.

A carpenter would not arrive at your house to perform a remodel without bringing any of his/her tools would they?

The Four Smartest Ways to Spiral Your Website Traffic

The Four Smartest Ways to Spiral Your Website Traffic

 by: Cari Haus

People are paying pretty significant dollars for website traffic these days.
Pay-per-click charges of $1-10 are not uncommon for top search terms.
Multiply that by the 300 unique visitors per day that my log furniture website gets, and you are talking at least $300 per day, or $9,000 per month?depending on how many days are in the month.

?There Must Be Some Easier Way?

While pay-per-click may be a good business model for your website, there?s nothing like free traffic to lay the foundation.
My log furniture site used to get 100 unique visitors per day before it started fetching in 200, and now 300 on an average basis.
The personal goal here is 1,000 unique daily visitors?but 10,000 would also be welcomed!

Following are some of the best ways we have found to grow website traffic:

Dog Fleas

Dog Fleas

 by: Rita Hutner

Dog fleas can cause more than itching.

They are difficult to control, but, left unchecked, they can cause your dog very serious health problems.

Simple facts about dog fleas:

Fleas are probably the most successful creatures on the planet in terms of reproduction. There are over 2,400 species and they are difficult to control for a variety of reasons: One female flea will produce 25,000 offspring in one month. An unfed adult can live for several months. The chemicals used to eradicate adult dog fleas have no effect on the eggs. Fleas are very good at mutating to resist new pesticides.

Fleas are a menace to dogs! They cause allergic dermatitis, tapeworms, and anemia. Most of the eggs are not laid on the dog but in the dog's bedding, in the rug, and on the furniture. It is extremely difficult to eradicate fleas completely. The most you can hope for is to control them and to keep your dog reasonably comfortable...

Flat Screen TV Comparison: Plasma vs LCD

Flat Screen TV Comparison: Plasma vs LCD

 by: Mitchell Medford

Flat screen TV is one of the most popular and exciting TV technologies today. At only a few inches thick, flat screen TVs offer unparalleled flexibility and convenience. Older conventional TV's, in fairness to them, did offer crisp and vibrant images. However, these TV's, which operate through a cathode ray tube (CRT), suffered from one major drawback, they were bulky. As screen size increased, so...
